Job Description

The School offers a vibrant educational and research environment in Chemistryand Physics. The South African Research Chair in Quantum Information Processingand Communication hosted by the University of KwaZulu-Natal, funded by theDST and administered by the NRF resides in the School. Currently, the research ofthe Chair is focused around open quantum systems, quantum informationprocessing, cold atoms, and quantum optics.

Responsibilities + Skills

The incumbent will be expected to conduct independent, externally fundedresearch in one or more of the above focus areas, and to participate actively inteaching at undergraduate and post-graduate levels.

Education

In order to enhance the teaching and research capabilities of the Chair, theSchool seeks to appoint a suitably qualified candidate to the permanent staffwith experimental expertise in one of the current focus areas or a closely relatedfield.

Experience

A relevant Doctoral degreeExperience in teaching at a tertiary institutionDemonstrated ability to attract research funds
