The School has an active group of academic staff contributing to research and teachingin the fields of atmospheric science, biogeography, environmental management,geomorphology, GIS, and remote sensing, and seeks an individual who will help instrengthening its activities in geomorphology and/or climatology. The incumbent will betasked with undergraduate teaching within Physical Geography at all levels usingcurricula in keeping with modern developments in that field, and will assist in developingdiscipline-wide postgraduate teaching programmes across the School. The incumbentmust show expertise in teaching the content of existing under-graduate PhysicalGeography courses, with a particular focus on geomorphology and/or climatology. Inaddition to teaching, s/he will be expected to develop and maintain an active researchprogramme that will involve supervision of postgraduate students and attract externalfunding. S/he will also be expected to be involved in the School administration, outreachactivities and take up a leadership role within the Pietermaritzburg Campus.This incumbent will report to: Academic Leader: Geography Cluster.
