Purpose:The Director for Research Development invites suitably qualified and experienced applicants to apply for the post of Bookkeeper in the University Research Office. The purpose of this job is to provide administrative support for the grant management function related mainly to finance and postgraduate students funding.Brief DescriptionKey responsibilities include three main activities:1. Administer NRF and other bursaries;2. Bookkeeping which entails paying bursaries, i-procurement, travel arrangement, payroll claims, reimbursements, advances, invoices and assisting with the annual external grants audits (e.g. NRF, MRC & CANSA)3. Handling enquiries.
Responsibilities + Skills
Minimum of 2 years financial experience within the University environment Candidates must have a good working knowledge of SIMS, Oracle, Word, Outlook and Excel. The selected candidate must:
Education
Candidates should have at least a matric and bookkeeping qualification ;
Experience
Minimum experience is about 3 years of administration including about 2 years experience of the University sector, with particular emphasis on Wits at its systems and processes;
