Job Title Dean - Faculty of Health Sciences (5 year renewable contract)LocationOrganization Name Faculty of Health SciencesDepartment DescriptionThe University of the Witwatersrand seeks to appoint a Dean to lead the Faculty of Health Sciences, which comprises of seven schools: Anatomical Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Oral Health Sciences, Pathology, Physiology, Public Health and Therapeutic Sciences, all of which have strong undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.The Faculty‘s training portfolio is responsive to national needs and is a resource for sub-Saharan Africa. The clinical training platform includes public quaternary, tertiary and secondary hospitals and primary healthcare sites in both rural and urban areas, including the Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre, a private facility that trains sub-specialists.The Faculty is home to many highly-cited, award-winning, NRF A-rated scientists and numerous specialists. It houses 18 recognised research entities, including two Institutes, four joint MRC research units, a DST/NRF Centre of Excellence and five NRF South African Research Chairs.Brief DescriptionWhile the Dean serves as a member of the University’s Senior Executive Team, s/he is also the leader of the Faculty. In fulfilling this dual role, s/he will represent the views of the central administration to the Faculty, and present the interests of the Faculty to the Senior Executive Team.
