Group Chief Economist

Job Description

Job Responsibilities
Advise stakeholders by compiling international, regional and domestic outlooks with regular forecasts.
Provide conceptual and analytical framework for the Nedbank Group by inititating, managing, analysing and forecasting economic information.
Advise Group Finance regarding 3 years worth of planning process by providing economic framework and forecasts.
Keep stakeholders updated and informed by advising governance and decision making bodies such as the House View Forum and Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO) on key economic and financial developments and expected trends.
Advise risk committees on risk imposed on their businesses by the economic cycle by providing regular input to business units.
Provide expected default data and input to the sovereign risk and the institutions committee by managing and updating the Groups sovereign risk model.
Manage media relationships by providing comment on local economic releases, attending to press requests of an economic nature and providing media interviews.
Support Business Units by facilitating client interactions and promoting the bank.
Participate in domestic and international economic debate by participating in public fora such as South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI), Business Unit South Africa (BUSA), National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC) and interacting with government and other stakeholders.
