Instructional Designer

Job Description

Interface with the client, establish needs and requirements. Actively facilitate & participate in brainstorming sessions to refine scope. Create the curriculum structure and compile information into learning content. Create meaningful user experiences that best fit the learning content, audience and competency | change targeted. Ensure the outputs are of a high quality, and that controls and processes are in place to create shorter turnarounds with all roles functioning at maximum efficiency. Track and manage the end-to-end delivery through the development life-cycle. Deliver product to the client and establish the feedback loop.Key performance areasWork with Subject Matter Experts to identify and describe target population characteristicsContribute to or lead design | brainstorming | idea generation sessionsDefine and sequence the instructional content and strategiesDesign a curriculum or program for digital learning aligned to the ADDIE | 5Di principleDevelop course framework, storyboards etc.Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methodsDevelop evaluation and assessment of the instruction and its impactEnsure design SLAs are metEffectively collaborate with other roles in the DCC and Group Talent departmentMaintain project documentation, course folders and workflow using relevant internal toolsCoach and| or mentor within your domain when requiredRemain abreast of emerging trends and technologies in the web development and digital learning fieldsBrief in project requirements to DLC by business stakeholdersCo-ordinate workflow between various internal DLC rolesMaintain project plans, schedules and related documentationUpdate specific systems and records

Responsibilities + Skills

Lesson and curriculum planning skillsVisual design skills (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboardAbility to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scriptsA willingness to learn and a focus on continuous improvementsPassion for storytelling


Project management experience preferredTeam management experience desirableAble to co-ordinate projects and project teamsAble to work in a highly pressurised and deadline driven environmentExcellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skillsExcellent attention to detail


A qualification in instructional design, educational technology, UX, ETDP, Technology, QA or a related field3+ years Proven working experience relevant field3+ years experience in digital learning environment preferredExcellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
