Job Description

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Drafting, Implementing and Monitoring of Budgets for In- house Maintenance and Contractors
  • Implementing Financial Control on all activities by the In-house Maintenance Teams and contractors
  • Ensure effective Customers Service that will not have a negative impact on the University’s teaching, research, sport and residential programs
  • Instilling Customer-Centric Behavior within the division
  • Procurement of services related to area (s) of responsibility as and when needed, according to the University’s Procurement Procedures
  • Developing Annual Operational Maintenance and Up-keep Plans for the Maintenance Teams
  • Implementation of approved Maintenance Plans
  • Planning of all jobs (refurbishments and alterations included); checking progress and addressing any delays that might occur
  • Implementation and management of developed Integrated Quality Management Systems within the Maintenance Team structure
  • Ensure that Maintenance Teams and contractors workmanship provide a safe and fit for purpose environment for use by the University community
  • Management of Bulk stores
  • Management of staff as per the University’s HR Policies and Processes
  • Set out Performance Outputs and Measurements for each direct report
  • Ensures continuous Training and Development of team members
  • Timeous submission of Operational Reports

Responsibilities + Skills

Trade Test will be an advantage5-10 years Facilities Management Experience (5 years in Management Level)Valid Drivers License

Education

Grade 12National Diploma in Engineering/ Operations Management (or in any related Facilities Management Studies)Project Management Qualification will be an advantage
