Job Description

Functional Output:Contribute to the strategy for and to provide Competition Law legal services to the Sasol Group of Companies to contribute to ensuring that business goals are achieved in a legally compliant manner.Contribute to the shaping and influencing of the Competition Law strategy for the Sasol Group.Contribute to and influence the formulation and implementation of appropriate Competition Law policies and standards for Sasol.Act as a legal adviser specifically in relation to Competition Law and to provide guidance in the taking of tactical and strategic business decisions by various Sasol Business Units.Provide Competition Law advice in relation to business transactions and projects considered by Sasol Business Units.Contribute to the implementation of Competition Law compliance strategies, policies, standards and systems in the Sasol Group.Participate in the effective execution of the mandate of the legal function within the Sasol Group.Participate in the design and implementation of group-wide Competition Law training programmes aimed at heightening awareness and building a culture of Competition Law compliance within Sasol.Provide Competition Law advice to Sasol businesses and functions and to provide strategic, tactical and operational support in this regard.Maintain a working relationship with Sasol businesses and functions including the execution of applicable SLAs with different BUs.Maintain regular engagement with clients and stakeholders.Obtain performance feedback from clients and stakeholders.Execute legal actions in a way that ensures alignment of Sasol business transactions with Group Legal Strategy.Advise on management of Competition Law Risk exposure resulting from policies and business decisions.Provide pragmatic, innovative, cost effective and trusted legal opinions based on most recent applicable law.Contribute to BU board and other governance submissions and reports.Participate in SOX, annual certification and other compliance processes as needed.Reading, interpreting and drafting of contracts and related legal documents such as legal opinions and internal approval documents.

Responsibilities + Skills

Preference: LLM or similar post-graduate qualification in Competition LawPreference: Economics background and/or qualification

Education

Required: Minimum LLB or equivalent law degree from an accredited law schoolRequired: Admitted Attorney / Advocate with General Council of the Bar (GCB) membership or membership of a similar professional association

Experience

11 years (Preference at least 3 years in practice and 3 years relevant specialist legal experience)
