Job Description

Purpose of the Job:
Accountable as an IPE inspector as part of the Sasol Chemicals Inspection Authority which is charged (as contemplated in the Pressure Equipment Regulations (PER) and (OSHA Act)) with the following responsibilities: - Legal accountability for manufacturing inspections of all pressure vessels, steam generators, pressure accessories, storage tanks and piping on the various sites in Sasolburg Operations, to ensure the required integrity of the said equipment and process plants in support of the business needs. Accountable as part of the Sasol Chemicals Inspection Authority to ensure legal compliance.

In summary, the role is accountable to ensure compliance to the Pressure Equipment Regulations (PER), SANS 10227, SANS 17020 and various approved Health and Safety Standards during manufacturing, repairs or modifications inspections as a certified IPE Inspector and SANAS technical signatory.

Note: The legal responsibilities and role intent of all levels of Inspectors (Inspector, Senior Inspector, Principal Inspector and Specialist Inspector) remains the same. The only difference is in experience level, functional competencies and span of control.

Grade 12 with Mathematics and cienceSAQCC IPE Certification and CPPV or CPSG


Perform and evaluate visual inspections.Evaluate magnetic particle testing.Evaluate dye penetrant testing.Review and interpret radiographs
