The University of KwaZulu-Natal Foundation (UKZNF) is the official fundraising entity of the University
of KwaZulu-Natal. Its primary objective is to establish relationships with the donor community and to
raise funds for the institutional advancement of the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The UKZN
Foundation has its base of operations on the Howard College Campus in Durban.
The Prospect Researcher is responsible for proactively seeking and providing information and leads
to drive philanthropic giving from the national and international donor community. The Prospect
Researcher will ideally be an individual who can analyze, and synthesize complex data into a user-
friendly and concise format for use by the fundraising team, is someone who can work to tight
deadlines and is able to learn quickly and adapt to an evolving work environment. S/he should have
advanced skills using MS Office products, especially MS Excel. The successful candidate must be
able to communicate and present information using verbal and written skills. Extensive experience as
a researcher in the higher education sector, in general and/or the donor market is essential.
Experience as a prospect researcher is a distinct advantage.
Responsibilities + Skills
Proactively manage and update the donor database with quality data.Produce reports/presentations for meetings and publications.Provide general support to the fundraising teams stewardship initiatives.
Provide professional support for the Executive Director and the fundraising team.Draft engagement briefings for and in consultation with the fundraising team.Proactively monitor and match requests for proposals with the University fundraising
A Bachelors degree;Three (3) years relevant experience in a fundraising / research environment;Advanced computer skills using MS Office products, especially MS Excel;Experience in data analysis and report writing;A valid drivers license and reliable vehicle.
