Job Description

This is a lecturing post in the CVA of the School of Arts. The post entails the scheduledlectures and supervision of students registered at the University of KwaZulu-Natal,Centre for Visual Art, Pietermaritzburg Campus, in the Fine Art modules of BA (VisualArts), BA (Media Studies) and BA (General Studies) and in postgraduateprogrammes. Current undergraduate teaching includes practice-led topics, themesand media of South African Visual Art specifically regarding contemporary 3-Dstudio productions and practices of Ceramics and 3-D Design.The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching and supervision atundergraduate and postgraduate levels, participate in curriculum developmentand programme administration, and to pursue practice-led research in Ceramics

Responsibilities + Skills

A Masters degree in Fine Art/Visual Art, and evidence of registering for a PhD(or equivalent) in one of these fields.Evidence of successful teaching experience at tertiary level in recognisedcreative work in the specialised 3-D Studio Ceramics media of Fine Art/Visual


An appropriate record of publication or recognised creative work in thespecialised 3-D Studio Ceramics media of Fine Art/Visual ArtEvidence of administrative experience including Ceramics Studiomanagement.


A PhD (or equivalent) in the field of Fine Art/Visual Art.Two years teaching experience at tertiary level in recognised creative work
