Senior Technician (Microbiology)

Job Description

The incumbent will set up, manage and administer Microbiology practicals andmaintain teaching laboratories. S/he will plan, schedule and prepare practicals aswell as providing, testing and maintaining materials for practicals. S/he will beexpected to provide research support to postgraduate students and academics,and will supervise laboratory assistants. The incumbent will provide instruction andtechnical support to students on safe use of teaching and research equipmentand be responsible for ensuring laboratory and equipment safety withinMicrobiology. S/he will be responsible for maintaining the culture collection forteaching and research in Microbiology as well as ensuring maintenance andrepairs of equipment. S/he is expected to have sound computer knowledge indatabases, word processing and software packages.S/he will perform any other duties as determined by management with regard tothe operational needs of the School and smooth running of the discipline.

A three year relevant tertiary qualification in Microbiology or related field


Four years relevant work experience, inclusive of practical experience gainedat postgraduate studies.
