Job Description

The HIV Pathogenesis Programme (HPP) is a multidisciplinary HIV pathogenesis research programmebased at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Nelson Mandela School of Medicine in Durban. The HPP hasbeen involved in studies of HIV-1 immunopathogenesis for over 15 years.The HPP has a Research Technician position available. The incumbent will be required to be highlymotivated, meticulous and hard-working and be able to work independently. The incumbents willreport to the Laboratory Manager / Research Scientist.

Responsibilities + Skills

Education

BSc (Honours) degree in Biomedical fieldHands-on experience in general molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction,PCR, cloning, sequencing, and tissue culture

Experience

Minimum one-year experience working in a biomedical research laboratoryFamiliarity with biomedical research laboratory procedures and safety requirementsGood computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
