The IIE enjoys the reputation of being at the forefront of private higher education in South Africa, and is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to provide higher education qualifications accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE).The IIE's Varsity College, Nelson Mandela Bay Campus has a vacancy for a Campus Deputy Head (Academic).Duties and Responsibilities:Human Capital ManagementEnsures that the Academic, Operations and Student Services staff teams have correct capacity.Manages performance of staff within reporting teams.Adheres to company Human Resources processes and policies and ensures that reporting teams adhere to these processes and policies accordingly.Manages Human Resources within reporting teams.Manages the process of recruiting, appointing and contracting of the independent contractors.Interviews potential new staff members and makes recommendations to management.Ensures that staff have been trained and meet the requirements as set out by management in order to understand policy and procedure.Budget ManagementOversee's Lecturer budget.Compiles departmental budget.Manages budget projected versus actual.Manages spend on budget.Revises budget as and when required.Addresses overspending and under spending and takes remedial action.Reports to Campus Head on overspend and under spend and how the budget is being managed.
Responsibilities + Skills
Education
Manages the Academic Operations Department with allocation of lecturers, programme management and operational delivery for the academic year.Assess results and supports students where necessary, e.g. host workshops if results are low or organises supplementary exams.Approves additional workshops on high risk modules.Acknowledges and rewards good performance by lecturers and students, e.g. Night of the Stars, graduation, manages the evaluation of Lecturers and process for peer reviews of Lecturers.
